Some of our Year 9 pupils have completed their module on World War One by researching the names of men who died during the Great War and who are listed on the Wigan Cenotaph. As part of this research, the pupils used the Commonwealth War Grave Commission website and then cross-referenced it with the history department’s set of original World War One newspapers. Pupils and staff were moved by the pages and pages of ‘Roll of Honour’ stories and pictures of those who were wounded or lost their lives in the Great War. Using old newspaper creates a lot of dusts and bits, luckily Oliver and Mason offered to vacuum the history open area!
