Year 10 student Kieron spent four weeks of his summer holidays helping out at One Vision Media Production Group with a boxing project. One Vision is a non-profit group which provides training courses for people with learning disabilities in all aspects of media production. One of their training courses is health and well-being and One Vision were invited to Blundell’s Gym where everyone was put through their paces, using punch bags, enjoying circuit work and then light sparring. Kieron’s role included pre-arranging the members for their day of activities, making and serving breakfast, selecting equipment/appropriate clothing, keeping the members on task, sorting out lunches as well helping with transporting members to the venue via a mini bus. Kieron worked with lots of different members and the experience has given him a greater understanding of living with a disability. Kieron is busy as he is also a member of the Wigan Army Cadets.
