Five sign up to scholarships
Five St John Fisher rugby stars have been signed up to scholarships at Super League clubs.
Callum and Tyler have been snapped up by Widnes Vikings while Jamie and Reece have been selected for Wigan Warriors and Ryan for Warrington Wolves.
All played their part last year as St John Fisher won the Wigan and Leigh Schools Rugby Final and were also crowned North West School champions.
Jamie, 14, is a second row loose forward who plays locally for St Patrick’s and has signed a two-year scholarship. His older brother Josh, a former St John Fisher pupil, has just signed up for Widnes Vikings. Reece, 15, has also signed up for Warriors.
Ryan, 14, also plays for St Patrick’s and is a full-back and centre. He has signed a one-year scholarship with Warrington.
Tyler, 15, is a back row centre also with St Patrick’s and has secured a two-year deal with Widnes after impressing.
Callum, 14, has also signed for Widnes and he plays for Rosebridge.
All are looking to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Sam Tomkins, Ryan Sutton and Sean O’Loughlin who all came through the years at St John Fisher.
