On Tuesday 19th April, Year Nine took part in our annual memorial day.
The day focused on the Holocaust Memorial Day Theme of ‘Don’t Stand By’. Students took part in an assembly that concentrated on this theme, and considered why it is important to remember.
Students then visited three workshops with members of the History and RE departments, where they were given the opportunity to reflect on the significance of this event and consider lessons that can be learnt and applied in our every day lives.
In the afternoon we welcomed Joan Salter, a holocaust survivor. Students listened to Joan’s story and were given the opportunity to ask questions. Joan’s story was powerful and thought provoking and the St John Fisher Community are grateful for her valuable input on this day.
