Throughout September, The Drama Department will be working on a project with Wigan Road Safety Department and Box Clever Theatre Company, a London based theatre group. The Drama Department is no stranger to Box Clever Theatre who worked with pupils in recent years to create a film which was featured nationwide, to highlight the dangers of alcohol.
This year the theatre group will work with a number of our Year 9 pupils and local primary schools.
The collaborative project between SJF, local primary schools, Wigan Road Safety and the professional theatre group has been organised to address a significant statistical ‘spike’ in our local area. This is associated with road traffic accidents involving 5-11 year olds.
The theatre group will use SJF as a rehearsal venue and base, visiting local primaries with their performance of ‘Car Story’. Our own Drama students will be involved in supporting and shaping the performance which will begin its nationwide tour in Wigan primary schools.
Pupils have been invited to the local primary schools later in the week, to share in watching this Theatre-in-Education performance.
A big ‘break a leg!’ goes out to our students and Box Clever Theatre Company!
